My Quarantine Experience By: Ben Panet

During the quarantine for COVID-19, we all have different experiences, and ways we pass the time. My way has been getting so much schoolwork that I spend most days working on it from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Work can be nice to sink into, focus, and get in a rhythm with, but I feel like I am getting more work than I normally did in school. It isn’t all bad, I’ve been playing video games with my friends and sinking into games I haven’t touched for a long time. I think that video games are a great way to … Continue reading My Quarantine Experience By: Ben Panet

The Weeks Before School By: Eric Wieder

“Five whole days is quite a lot of time,” I wrote in a previous article on the topic of March Break. If only I could go back in time and tell my past self what to expect. The world has changed quite a bit, and we’ve had to change with it. So if I thought five days was a lot of time, how did I survive a whole 20?  The first week was great! It was March Break as planned, and although my travel plans were canceled, it was still great to relax in the house. Staying up past midnight, … Continue reading The Weeks Before School By: Eric Wieder

Quarantine Experience (Anonymous Submission)

Shifting into quarantine was like settling in bed to sleep, sort of. It was cozy at first. Then I started tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable and succeeding for a second only to feel an ache again. The discomfort is caused by boredom mainly, and the news, which I avoid. I pretend that everything is normal, and I made a schedule for myself which starts at 6:45 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. I’m reading a lot, baking a bit, FaceTiming my friends semi-regularly, and browsing Instagram and Twitter way too much. I want to scream in my … Continue reading Quarantine Experience (Anonymous Submission)

Productivity in a Pandemic By: Jaleelah Ammar

I’m not the most consistent person in the best of times. Like many, I have started learning and abandoned several languages on Duolingo, began programming projects that went unfinished, and started keeping a journal that I forgot about after a few weeks. Usually I tell myself that I don’t have enough time to commit to new time-consuming goals, what with my extracurriculars and math homework. Unfortunately, I no longer have an excuse. So at the start of this period of social distancing, I decided I would filter through all my past projects. The first thing I discovered was that … Continue reading Productivity in a Pandemic By: Jaleelah Ammar

Tips to De-stress and Practice Self-Care During the Holidays By: Juliette Hardy

The holidays are stressful for many. Seeing family, holiday shopping, not to mention the landslide of work we get before the break–it can start to take a toll. Here’s a list of ways to de-stress and practice self- care during the holidays or whenever it is needed. Meditation Meditation can be a great way to clear the mind. “Come From Away” Review By: Rebecca Rosenfeld

Come From Away, a powerful musical production that focuses on the good things that came out of a tragedy. For those of you who don’t already know, Come From Away is a heart-warming true story of when the isolated town of Gander in Newfoundland  hosted people from all over the world when all air-traffic was diverted from the US airspace after 9/11. From the very beginning of the show, during the opening number, the actors energy levels are so high it’s contagious and the energy only builds as the show goes on. The humour in the show definitely does not … Continue reading “Come From Away” Review By: Rebecca Rosenfeld

Northern’s White Ribbon Campaign: Raising Awareness for Domestic Violence By: Emma Graham

On December 6th, 1989, an act of gender-based violence took place at École Polytechnique de Montréal. A man walked into the university with the thought that engineering should be a men’s field of study. He told the men to go to the other side of the room so he could shoot the women. This act left 14 women dead and 10 more injured. He stated he was merely fighting feminism. In Canada, December 6th is recognized as National Day of Rememberance and Action on Violence Against Women.
